Privacy Policy
What this website collects, what it does not, and what you can ask me to do about it.
This policy covers robynsevigny.com, the public website. It is written in plain language on purpose, and it describes what the site actually does rather than every practice a website could theoretically have.
It does NOT cover your therapy records. Health information from sessions is protected health information under HIPAA and California law, and how it is handled is set out separately in the Notice of Privacy Practices.
What this site collects
Three things, and the one that matters most is only collected if you choose to send it.

What you type into the contact form
The contact form asks for your first name, last name, and email address, and optionally your phone number, how you heard about the practice, and a message describing what brings you here. Nothing on that form is collected unless you fill it in and submit it.
The form is emailed to me. It is NOT a HIPAA-secure channel, which is why the form says so before you type: please keep your message general and do not include clinical detail you would not send by ordinary email.

Standard server logs
Like any website, the servers that deliver these pages record routine technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and which pages were requested. This is used to keep the site working and secure. It is not used to build a profile of you.

Website analytics
This site uses Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to measure how the website is being used. It records things like which pages were opened, roughly which part of the world the visit came from, which device and browser were used, how you arrived at the site, and whether you clicked a booking link or sent the contact form.
It is there to show what people are looking for, not to identify you. Analytics data is never connected to a therapy record, and the words you type into the contact form are not sent to Google.
What this site does not do
Stated plainly, because most of these are things visitors reasonably assume are happening:
- No advertising or retargeting pixels are running on this site. There is no Meta or Facebook pixel, and no session recording or heatmap software.
- Nothing you type is sold, rented, or shared for marketing.
- No account is required, and none is created for you.
- No protected health information is collected through this website.
Analytics were added when this new website launched, and this policy was updated in the same change. Please treat the effective date above as the record of what was true when you read it.
Cookies, and how to switch analytics off
Google Analytics sets a small first-party cookie in your browser so that several page views in one visit are not counted as several different people. It holds a random identifier, not your name, and it is not used to advertise to you.
If you would rather not be counted, you can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, use a private window, or install Google’s official Analytics opt-out add-on. Nothing on this site stops working if you do, and opting out has no effect whatsoever on the care you receive.
There is no cookie banner here because this site sets no advertising cookies and does not sell or share your information. What Google does with analytics data is described in its own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
Third parties this site hands you to
Several buttons take you somewhere else. Once you arrive, that company's own privacy policy governs what happens, not this one.

Calendly
The consultation booking button opens Calendly, which collects the details you enter to schedule the call.

TherapyPortal
The client portal is TherapyPortal, used by existing clients for secure messaging, scheduling, documents, and billing. It is a HIPAA-compliant platform and is the correct place for anything clinical.

Headway
Insurance claims are processed through Headway, which handles billing and eligibility. Sharing information with them is limited to what billing requires.

Psychology Today
The verified-professional seal shown on this site loads from Psychology Today's servers. Displaying it means their servers receive your IP address, as with any image loaded from another domain.

Google Analytics and Tag Manager
Analytics runs on Google’s infrastructure, so Google receives the technical details of your visit described above, including your IP address, which it uses to work out an approximate location and does not keep in the reports.
Google’s advertising features are switched off for this site, so your visit is not used to build an advertising profile or to follow you around other websites.
None of these companies receive the contents of your contact form. Apart from the analytics described above, they only receive what you give them directly, on their own pages.
How long anything is kept
Contact form enquiries arrive as email and are kept only as long as needed to respond to you and, if you become a client, to complete intake. If you would like an enquiry deleted, ask and it will be.
Server logs are short-lived and are retained only for security and reliability purposes.
Therapy records are a separate matter with their own legal retention requirements. Those are covered in the Notice of Privacy Practices, not here.
Your rights
California residents have rights over personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended. Regardless of where you live, you can ask me to:
- Tell you what personal information I hold about you and where it came from
- Send you a copy of it
- Correct it if it is wrong
- Delete it
- Stop contacting you
This practice does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front. Analytics data is not used for advertising and is not passed to advertisers. Exercising any of these rights will never affect the care you receive.
Children
This website is intended for adults. It is not directed at children under 13, and information is not knowingly collected from them. If you believe a child has sent information through this site, please get in touch and it will be deleted.
Security, honestly stated
This site is served over an encrypted connection, and the contact form is transmitted securely. That said, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and email in particular is not. That is the reason the contact form is deliberately limited to general enquiries, and why anything clinical belongs in the client portal.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the site changes. Any update will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
